Course Description

A workshop to celebrate and explore a starry, starry night - part of the Dark Skies Fringe Festival. This watercolour workshop is suitable for all levels, from absolute beginners to anyone wanting to explore new techniques. No drawing needed. You’ll create two starry night skyscapes to take home with you. Using a limited but vibrant palette, you'll explore some fantastic and fun techniques (cling film, wax resist, masking fluid and spatter) as well as practising more traditional washes and wet on wet painting. The emphasis of the workshop is very much on play and experimentation. What to bring: All materials are provided and included in the price so you just need to bring yourself - an apron and something to take your lovely painting(s) home with you would also be useful. If would like to bring along some sketches or photos of your own to base your painting on then that's of course fine. Practicalities: The full address is: Pocklington Arts Centre, 22-24 Market Pl, Pocklington, York YO42 2AR. There is parking on site and the Arts Centre has full accessibility. Refreshments (tea/coffee/biscuits) are provided so do please advise any dietary requirements. The workshop runs from 10.30 am to approx 1.30 pm. If you have any questions at all, please do email ioneharrisonart@gmail.com. Your tutor: Ione is an landscape artist and tutor with over 30 years' teaching experience. Her aim in her teaching is twofold: for you to feel supported to develop confidence and skill in using the wonderful medium of watercolour; for you to have fun and spend an enjoyable time playing with colour (and water) in a non-judgemental environment.
